How to Use an EpiPen

  1. Take the EpiPen out of its case.
  2. Hold it in a firm fist-grip.
  3. Remove the cap.
  4. Make sure the child is sitting or lying down. Have smaller children sit on your lap.
  5. Identify the big muscle in the thigh.
  6. Hold the leg and the child steadily.
  7. Press the orange part firmly against the thigh so that it clicks – stay there, don’t bounce.
  8. Hold for 10 seconds – Press, Click and Hold.
